About Insertion Loss:

Insertion loss is a measurement of the light lost as it
passes through two connectors aligned with a mating adapter.
Excess light loss generally comes from the fiber cores not being
aligned. This mis-alignment can be caused by the connector
ferrules or the mating adapter Ceramic / Brass sleeve if the
mechanical tolerances are not controlled.

About APC Connectors

APC connectors have been developed for high bandwidth
systems wherelow reflection is critical. This is achieved by
creating an angle on the connector ferrule endface. Accurate
ferrule endface and connector key error is critical to maintain
low reflection and low insertion loss.

About PM Fiber

Polarization Maintaining fiber has been developed for
applications requiring the light to maintain it’s polarization as
it propagates through the fiber. This is done with Stress
applying members within the fiber that create two orthogonal (90
degree) axes through the core where the light signal travels.
Proper alignment to the light source and alignment of the fiber
in the connector with respect to the connector key is critical to
maintain polarization.
